The Hellenurme Watermill Museum’s eatery, located between Elva and Otepää, offers such an exceptional experience that it pleases both your stomach and your eyes. The food is made from local ingredients and cooked in a wood fired oven that gives the food its’ special olden times’ flavour. There is always traditional Estonian bread that is kneaded by hand from leaven, rye flour and water, shaped and cooked in the wood fired oven. Tastes like back in the olden days as well - confirmed by those who know.

The matron of the mill puts the menu together according to the season and combines old recipes with new ones. You can combine your dinner with a visit to the watermill, where the 135-years-old mill can still grind up grains.

Flour workshop: See, feel and taste how grains become flour in the water-powered mill.

Bread workshop: The fresh flour is baked into a bread that carries the memories of the ancestral times.

Making superfoods: cooking workshops with seasonal ingredients.

Hellenurme Watermill “From water to bread: grinding flour and baking bread” has been awarded with the EHE (Genuine and Interesting Estonia) label of quality.
