Culinary regions

All over the world, local food and local culinary tradition have become one of the most important symbols of the state and region, and local life can also be explored by tourists through food. Food as a part of regional culture is one reason for travelling.

Estonian culinary traditions, high-quality ingredients and chefs’ commitment to the foods of their region result in impressive and delicious culinary experiences.

To recognise the cuisine and local culinary culture of various Estonian regions, the Ministry of Rural Affairs has initiated a new tradition: to select one culinary region of Estonia every year and announce the year of the tastes of this region.
